Be not ashamed of your faith...

firefox-gray We at Meadowview Christian Church believe that the Bible is our only rule of faith and practice. We try to faithfully apply this principle to all our beliefs and actions. The Bible is the Word of God and on its truths we are firmly in agreement and bold in our proclamation.

1. The Scriptures- We believe that the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, that they are inerrant in the original writings and preserved, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life. II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:19-21, Psalm 12:6-7

2. God- We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three PersonsóFather, Son, and Holy Spiritóand these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections. Genesis 1:1, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19-20, John 10:30, II Corinthians 13:14, Romans 8:9

3. The Lord Jesus Christ- We believe in His eternal existence as God; His incarnation by means of the Virgin Birth; His death on the cross as the full, and sufficient, and only atonement for the sins of His people; His bodily resurrection from the dead and ascension into heaven; His present priestly intercession for His people; and His personal return in glory. Hebrews 1:8, Luke 1:34-35, II Corinthians 5:21, Romans 3:25-26, Luke 24:36-43, Hebrews 7:25, I Thessalonians 4:15-5:3

4. The Holy Spirit- We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; that He regenerates, converts, and sanctifies not as an act of manís free will and power, but of the mighty, effectual, and irresistible grace of God; and that He is the teacher of the Word of God and our Guide in life. John 16:8, I Corinthians 2:14, John 6:44, I Corinthians 2:9-12, John 16:13-14

5. Man- We believe in the total depravity of human nature in consequence of the Fall of Man from the original state of perfection in which he was created; that by the Fall, all mankind is in a state of condemnation and separation from a holy God, and can only be delivered by the divine work of regeneration and redemption. Romans 3:10-19, Romans 5:12, Hebrews 2:14-15, John 3:3

6. Salvation- We believe in the justification of the sinner solely by grace through faith, and that through the atoning merits of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. True saving faith always includes repentance, and evidences itself through obedience to Christ. Romans 4:5-8, Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 5:17-19, Mark 1:15, James 2:17

7. Perseverance- We believe that all those who are chosen by the Father, redeemed by the Son, and sanctified by the Spirit, shall certainly and finally persevere, so that not one of them shall ever perish, but shall have everlasting life. John 10:27-29, Matthew 24:13, Matthew 15:13, I John 2:19, Romans 8:30

8. The Church- We believe that the local church is composed of regenerated and baptized believers, voluntarily united together for the purpose of worship, edification, fellowship of believers, spiritual growth, and Christian service; that it has the absolute right of self-government, free from interferences of any hierarchy, government, or organization, and that the Head of the church is Christ alone; and that its only officers are elders or pastors, and deacons, whose qualifications are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus. Acts 2:41-47, Ephesians 4:11-16, I & II Timothy, Titus

9. Ordinances- We believe in the observance of the divine institution of the baptism of believers by immersion, in loving obedience and as an act of witness, but not as conveying any regenerating grace. We also believe in the observance of the Lordís Supper as a commemoration of our Lordís death but not as being a sacrifice for sin or involving any change of the substance of the bread and wine. Acts 8:36-39, Romans 6:3-5, I Corinthians 11:23-26, Hebrews 9:25-28

10. Judgment- We believe in the resurrection of the body, and the judgment of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, with the eternal blessedness of the redeemed, and the eternal punishment of those who finally reject Christ as Savior. Acts 24:15, I Corinthians 15:51-52, Matthew 25:31-46

11. Holiness and Separation- We believe that it is our duty as Christians to call the attention of believers to the Scriptural teaching of separation from false doctrine and worldly practices, that they might be wholly devoted to our Lord. Romans 16:17-18, II Corinthians 6:14-7:1, I John 2:15-16, Romans 12:1-2, Titus 2:12

12. Apostasy- We believe that the latter days will be characterized by a general lawlessness and departure from the faith. We therefore reject apostasy in all its forms, including the charismatic movement, worldly worship, easy-believism, theological liberalism, the theory of evolution, and the errors of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. I Timothy 4:1-2, II Timothy 3, II Peter 2:1-2, Matthew 24:11-12, II Thessalonians 2

Preach the Word!... with all long-suffering and doctrine.

Preach the Word! Be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:2-4
